Artists of Sacramento has teamed up with First Festival to bring the best art from the region, and WE NEED YOU!!!

This is a grassroots, all local festival that aims to celebrate the diverse creativity of our city. All artists accepted will receive a feature on Artists of Sacramento, full access to the festival all weekend, and more. See below for full details.

**DEADLINE TO SUBMIT IS MARCH 10 by 11:59 PM**

**FIRST FESTIVAL IS MAY 6 & 7**

We are looking for two main types of art:

1. Large and Mid-Scale Art Installations
2. Artwork to display in our «Pop Up Gallery»

THEME: «Unity in Diversity»

We chose the theme «Unity in Diversity» for the third annual First Festival, because we understand the need to provide a platform for the entire creative community. Sacramento is one of the most integrated and diverse cities in the country. That should be accurately represented in the local art scene. We believe that it's crucial to coexist as one community, tolerate differing beliefs, while rejecting hatred. With that in mind, we invite artists from around the Sacramento region to celebrate the differences that make us stronger as one. Imaginations are encouraged to run wild.

I've been receiving some pretty good questions. One of them being: Are you looking for artwork that literally depicts diversity? And the answer is Yes and No. It can also be an opportunity to represent a distinct culture, heritage, identity or mindset. Feel free to think outside the box on the theme, and make it personal to you.

**PLEASE READ GUIDELINES IN FULL BEFORE SUBMITTING**

The festival location will be Riverwalk Park in West Sac on May 6 & 7th, and will take place mostly during the daylight hours, with a few hours remaining after sunset. Please consider pieces that are crowd and environment friendly.

POP UP GALLERY:

-DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 3/10

-ART DROP OFF ON SITE: 5/5

-THEME: «Unity in Diversity»

— All art must be able to hang on a «wall» — we unfortunately cannot take free standing pieces for the Pop Up Gallery due to safety restrictions. If you have something that is free-standing and you're still eager to submit it, please do. If the piece is outstanding we will figure out a safe way to showcase it.

-Along with a link or examples of your work and a short bio on yourself, please submit a basic photo of the piece or pieces you'd like to display in our Pop Up Gallery. We may not be able to accept all work submitted. If you have any further information on the artwork itself, please provide it. We would love to hear your view on the creative process.

-In return for displaying your work, there will be zero hanging fee, the ability to sell the art on display, AND you'll get two weekend passes to the Festival, plus a feature in Artists of Sacramento!

-Email submissions to: artistsofsacramento@gmail.com

LARGE AND MID-SCALE ART INSTALLATIONS:

-DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 3/10

-THEME: «Unity in Diversity»

-In return for your time and materials used, you'll get an extended feature in Artists of Sacramento, and a Weekend Warrior package, which includes three 2-day festival passes, 6 drink tickets, and full access to the VIP Lounge, plus extra perks soon to be announced. We are a small local festival, and understand that monetary compensation would be preferred, but we hope you understand that we are on a very small budget, and would rather be upfront and honest about our abilities to compensate. Please feel free to send us questions if needed.

-Selected artists will be assisted in building a page to raise reimbursement funds for their installation! This does mean that funds to build your installation may be required before funds are raised and distributed. You are also free to fundraise on your own for art supplies.

-Please consider the safety of festival goers when conceptualizing your installation. Take into consideration that the installations will need to be extremely sturdy, flame retardant, and easy to navigate around.

— The installation must be able to be assembled in approximately 24 hours or less, on site, by 5 PM on Friday May 5th, and must be suitable for an outdoor location for more than two days, and relatively unattended overnight.

-Power will not be easily available, so if you need to power your piece at all, it must be done with solar power or batteries. Please consider submitting a piece that does not require power. Please submit questions on power to artistsofsacramento@gmail.com

-If your installation REEEEEALLY needs access to power...convince us. ;-)

— Along with a link or examples of your work, a short bio on yourself, plus any visual guides to explain your submission, please submit a detailed description of your proposed installation (or multiple installations) to artistsofsacramento@gmail.com by Friday March 10 by 11:59 PM
