Bring a blanket or chair and something cool to drink or share, but whatever you do, come and listen to some of the esteemed authors who have graced the pages of the American River Review, one of the most awarded college literary magazines in the U.S.!
In an eighteen-month process, a great many works of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and alternative genre are submitted for consideration to the ARR staff. Every piece is read and discussed at length. The discussion of a single piece can last an entire class session. A final vote decides which works will be selected, edited, and published. The staff meets with the authors of the selected pieces to discuss the work and offer feedback for the author’s consideration with the goal of helping the piece reach its highest potential.
Students of American River College and participants in SummerWords: the American River College Creative Writing Colloquium are eligible to submit.
