UC Davis Pre-Med Transfer Prep program
Pre-Medical transfer students often find that life at UC Davis is very different than life at the community college. The classes are larger. Our faculty often perform double duty as teachers and researchers, so studentsl spend more time with teaching assistants or tutors. The resources are available to you, but sometimes they can be difficult to find, especially as you are trying to find your way around classes and keep up with a science heavy schedule.
The Pre-Med Transfer Prep Program is designed to give you a two day head start. During our two day program, you will:
connect with other incoming and current pre-med transfer students
participate in a sample lecture and take an actual exam
learn notetaking and test taking strategies for a large university
navigate creating course schedules and two-year plans
meet current medical students to gain insight into the process of applying
discover the resources by traveling around campus
receive an overview of the programs available to you as a UC Davis student
This program is available to selected transfer students entering UC Davis in Fall 2017 who are interested in pursuing a medical career (Preference will be given to students in the College of Biological Sciences). Participants must submit a registration form (with your UC Davis Email, Student ID; once registered Health Professions Advising may request additional information to confirm your status as a UC Davis Student) along with a $25 refundable deposit no later than June 30 (Deposit is to cover the cost of student absence and will be refunded after sign in on the second day of the program).
Thank you for your interest in the Pre-Med Transfer Prep program brought to you by Health Professions Advising @ UC Davis! We look forward to seeing you in Fall 2017!
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
It is highly recommended that you use the mode of transportation you will be using to get to school normally. This could be driving (parking is limited to those that have C permits), taking the bus (Unitrans and other bus services will be running during the summer, most accept your UC Davis Student ID for free transportation, please check their websites for details regarding the day of the program unitrans.ucdavis.edu/
), or riding your bike.
What should I bring to the event?
You should wear comfortable clothes for a summer day in the valley (90-100 degrees Fahrenheit last year). Come prepared as if you would for class. Please bring what ever you would normally use to take notes.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
If you have any more questions please visit the Health Professions Advising office at UC Davis.
Wait didn't they say that this was a free program, why do I have to pay $25?
We anticipate this program will fill up and we need to ensure that the students that want to register have the opportunity. The $25 dollars is to reserve your spot. If you attend both days of the program your money will be fully refunded through Eventbrite. All registrations as of Thursday, August 31st will be considered final and students registered at that time are expected to show up. Any students that are registered after August 31st will only be refunded their money if they attend both days of the program.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You do not need a printed ticket. Your UC Davis Student ID is all you need to gain access on the day of the programs.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
No, Your ticket is not transferrable. Refunds are available until August 31st.
There are no more spots available, does this mean that I can't go?
We have implemented a waitlist for those that wish to attend but sign up after all the registration spots have been filled. Those on the waitlist will get top priority based on their position on the list. All registrations after August 31st are final and no adjustments will be made except under extreme documented circumstances.
