Join the Yoga Seed for the Module Two of our three month studies series, “Yoga and Social Justice: Accessibility for All”!
Sit with the Yoga Seed community for monthly meetings as we discuss social justice issues as they relate to yoga, mindful living, and non-violence. Each course topic will be explored to cultivate awareness around systems of oppression, addressing privilege, micro-aggressions, being an ally, and uncovering the life of service. These courses will challenge you to «yoke» the nonviolence experienced on the mat with the way we interact and create our world!
We’re pleased to have Yoga Seed’s Executive Director, Jen Durkee, as a facilitator for these seminars. Jen joined our Yoga Seed family in 2012 and throughout her many roles has worked at the forefront of the intersection of yoga and accessibility. We are also thrilled to welcome back Sheka Robinson as a co-facilitator this year! Sheka is a member of the Yoga Seed community and has over 10 years of experience facilitating dialogue around social justice and diversity within university student affairs spaces.
No previous study or experience in these topics is needed to participate. All are welcome!
Awareness of social justice in the yoga and mindfulness communities is vital. Thus, we have strived to make this 3-month course on social justice as it applies to race and ethnicity, mindfulness, and yoga financially accessible to all by offering each module at $5. Scholarships available via our website.
Space is limited. Sign up online to reserve your spot. Door admission will be first come first serve.
Due to the high interest in this series, we require that students attend the first session in order to attend the second and third.
