Inside at the Outside
R. W. Witt Gallery
«My concerns lie in the natural world and my connection to it through thought, feeling, and vision. Our collective physical dependency on nature, I believe, culminates in our recognition of love in its many forms. The fruition of this love has compelled me towards my most recent work collected here. Recently, I have discovered an abiding interest in the relationship between the city and nature. Most especially, how these seemingly disparate elements merge and overlap in the blur and frequent haste of daily life.
My work explores the rhythms of nature in collision with the rhythms of humans in the city. I investigate the interplay of organic and inorganic, the physical music created where they meet. With this work I seek to investigate questions of existence. Where does an individual end and the environment begin? How much of one’s perceived environment is actually within the individual?
Welcome to, Inside at the Outside, where our imagination invites the possibility of new worlds. This show is dedicated to the memory of Daniel Osterhoff, whose life and death has propelled me to be, in his words, 'progressively iller'.»
