On May 19, just one week after the Arizona Mile, the 2018 American Flat Track series heads to northern California for the famed Harley-Davidson Sacramento Mile presented by Cycle Gear, the second Mile event of the season at Sacramento’s Cal Expo Fairgrounds.
This is a near-holy spot for American Flat Track fans, as it’s the circuit featured in Bruce Brown’s monumental motorcycle racing movie On Any Sunday. But instead of Mert Lawwill, Dave Aldana and Gene Romero battling it out at well over 100 mph on Sacto’s wide open circuit, this year you’ll see guys like 2017 Grand National Champion Jared Mees, Bryan Smith and Brad Baker on their Indian Motorcycle FTR750s battling a host of Harley-Davidsons, Kawasakis and a host of marques for the AFT Twins trophy. And you’ll also get to watch Shayna Texter try to win the AFT Singles event for the second year on a row against a host of hungry competitors.
The region is a traditional hotbed for flat track racing, with area names such as Lawwill, Roberts and Graham filling the history books with wins and championships. That tradition continues in 2018 with the Sacramento Mile on May 19, 2018. Don’t miss a minute!
