Shriners Hospitals for Children - Northern California
2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, California 95817
Patients, parents, staff and volunteers are invited to a presentation by co-authors Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes, a married couple who were both injured during the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Jessica became a double amputee, and her husband, Patrick, also is an amputee from the bombing. They will share their experience that ultimately inspired their children’s book Rescue & Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship — a story of love and teamwork between a girl and her service dog. They will be joined by the star of the book – and ASPCA* Dog of the Year – Rescue! The purpose of the book is to demystify what it is like to live with a disability.
RESERVATIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
FREE PARKING in the Shriners Hospital Garage. Light refreshments will be served.
