The Ride of Silence is a worldwide, annual bicycle ride to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding on public roads. Additionally, it serves to raise awareness of cyclists and to ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD.
Please wear your helmets, bring your lights, and join us at 15th Street and Capitol Avenue on May 16th. The Ride of Silence poem will be read at 6:45 p.m. and we will depart for the ride at 7:00 p.m. This is a silent procession — we will ride approximately five miles to a ghost bike at J Street and Carlson Drive, in front of Sacramento State University, where we will honor all those whom we have lost and read the names of those killed this past year. This is a free ride for all to participate in; we will ride no faster than 12 mph. The ride will visit one more ghost bike at H and 10th, before returning to the starting area, 15th and Capitol.
We hope you will come out and be a part of this very special ride.
