Join Preservation Sacramento as we participate in Bike Month (May) with a tour of Sacramento infrastructure. This leisurely bike tour will cover roughly 6.5 miles and will stop at several locations. The tour will be led by past Preservation Sacramento President and Architectural Historian Garret Root and will feature stops and histories of a former powerhouse, a substation, sewage lift station, levees, water treatment plant, and an incinerator with potential for a few other short stops. The tour will focus on the physical structures, who construct them, when, and for what purpose. These buildings and structures go unnoticed but allow or have allowed Sacramentans to live modern, healthy lives.
This event is free and open to everyone.
The tour will begin at 100 U Street (corner of U and Front Streets). We will end the tour with an informal, no host social gathering at Capitol Hop Shop (1431 I Street).
