Mention Foxtrot and we get visions of elegance and glamour, of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Foxtrot truly is an All-American dance with it’s beginnings in New York in the summer of 1914. This dance was more energetic than other dances of the time and was therefore very popular with teens, which helped spread across the United States.

Foxtrot is a simple dance, composed of walking steps and side steps, and can be danced to several types of music including big bad, jazz, blues, pop and easy listening. In fact, you’ve most likely heard Foxtrots being played at formal dinner dances so it’s a definite must-know if you might find yourself dancing in piano bars, lounges, or even your own living room!

This class will include 1 hour of instruction with 30 minutes of free dance to practice your newly learned moves!

Why take a dance class?
Dancing is good for your heart, and promotes better coordination, balance and agility.
Dancing with a romantic partner creates another way for the two of you to connect with each other. As you dance together, your eyes meet, your bodies are close together, you can feel one another breathing.
It’s a great excuse for a date night! Treat yourself to a nice dinner afterwards.
Learn some moves that you can show off at the next wedding or night on the town. You don’t have to learn lifts or even a choreographed number, just pick up some basic ballroom skills to help you look like you know what you’re doing on the dance floor.
It’s fun! Feeling silly and laughing is part of the process. But you’ll find yourself building confidence as you nail those moves!
Not part of a couple? Not to worry! You can bring anyone — you just need a dance partner for this class. Keep your eyes peeled for future dance classes where having a partner is not necessary.

What to Wear: Dress comfortably for movement. Please no flip-flops (footwear should stay on the foot.)

About the Instructor:
Barnaly Pande teaches a range of different dance styles, though her passion is for the elegant ballroom and energetic Latin American dances (think: Dancing With The Stars.) She loves teaching people to dance for the first time but some of her own students have, like her, gone on to achieve national titles.
